“Hello, I’m Katelynn Young. I grew up in Weiser, Idaho, and graduated from Weiser High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. While at LCSC, I had the opportunity to work in both the admissions office and the Center for Arts and History. I also served as a campus ambassador, where I provided tours and information to prospective students and helped organize the Art Under the Elms festival. These experiences allowed me to interact with students and families, plan events, and build strong connections with faculty.
After graduating, I worked for my family’s heating and cooling business as a service department dispatcher and later managed an office for an electrical company. Although my path to education was unconventional, I feel it was the journey I was meant to take. When I moved back to my hometown, my parish invited me to become a catechist in their religious education program. Teaching religious education sparked my passion for teaching, and with support from my family and education directors, I began the ABCTE program to earn my teaching certification.
I’m deeply committed to service and community involvement. I coordinate Red Cross Blood Drives, having established biannual drives at both Weiser High School and Lewis-Clark State College. I also mentor new coordinators to help ensure the success of these important events.
In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and my pampered dogs, as well as exploring the mountains. I’m excited to join the St. Peter’s team, where I’ve been welcomed with open arms. Kindergarten has always been my favorite age group to teach, so I’m thrilled to start this new chapter in my career.”
