Head Teacher/4th-6th Grade Teacher
I was born in Mexico, and at the age of 11, I immigrated with my family to Ontario, Oregon where I attended middle school and high school and became a part of the Blessed Sacrament Church community. During my last couple of years of high school, I understood the importance of receiving a university education. With some of my hobbies being drawing, painting, and sewing, my first college degree is in Fashion Design.
Later on, as a young mother of two boys, I started to work as an instructional assistant at different elementary schools. This is when I discovered how much I enjoyed teaching. I enrolled at Eastern Oregon University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESOL) and a Middle Grades Mathematics endorsement.
I have been in the education field for about 18 years; I have been an IA, taught Spanish, and middle school bilingual mathematics. I have also served my community by sharing my catholic faith at Blessed Sacrament for about 17 years as a Confirmation Catechist, lector, and Eucharistic Minister. Additionally, I have served at Snake River Correctional Institution as a religious volunteer since 2015.
I love sharing my faith, as well as instilling the value of higher education in young people. As Headteacher and Spanish teacher, I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to share my faith, language, and traditions with our children at SPCS.
My favorite Bible verse is from Philippians 4:13,
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
